Question by Eric Reader: What do I do with a certified coin that I don't believe is the quality it is certified for?
I have recently started collecting coins. I have MS 70 silver eagles (gold eagles cost too much right now). One coin in particular is a 2009 "Early Release" MS 70, But givin the research I have been doing ANY imperfection will drop it down to at most MS 69. Also, the Early Release is crap and does nothing for the value. Even with my untrained eye I can see what look like flaws, 2 specifically because they are not marks on the identical (2004-2008) coins. I bought the coins from a different dealer (on line because there are no shops near by). So far the 2004-2007 that came from the same dealer are truly perfect, but my most recent coins say they are perfect ("certified" and all), but I don't believe so. What do I do?

Answer by Taiping First of all there are all kinds of grading services out there and they do not all have the same standards nor do they grade the same. A grade is someones opinion period. If you disagree with the grade send it back to the dealer you bought it from. Today a lot of dealers who actually can not grade coins sell the slabs, for they are already graded (may not be right grade), this way they get a free ride. I am from the old school and their is no such think as a MS-70 coin. No coin is perfect. With today's minting standards most modern collector coins such as the eagles and commemoratives as well as mint and proof sets grade at least MS-67 throughMS-69 and are quite common. If they were rare the prices for them would be in the thousands of dollars. As an example an 1892-S Morgan dollar is .50 in grade very good but in just MS-64 a dealer will pay close to 5,000 for it. back to your question if the coin was graded by one of the top gradinf firms, PCGS,NGC,ANACS or ICG they guarentee the grade so get in touch with them if the dealer will not take it back. Buying site unseen is still not a good idea unless from one of the grading services above. Even then I am not so sure sometimes. Hope this helps.

Question by MT: Why did the US Mint stop making gold and silver eagles for 2009?
I was checking the US Mint website and learned that they most likely won't be selling any Gold or Silver eagle coins because of the demand. Are they planning on minting the Gold and Silver eagle coins in sufficient quantities for collectors anytime soon? Will they be available next year?
Best answer:
Answer by liberty911 There is a link at this webpage which shows the 2009 American Eagle mintage which might be lower than most years. These are always available for a limited time, and I believe the time has expired for 2009. You should be able to find these from many coin dealers but at a premium price. Good luck.

Question by monkey d: 2007 American Eagle Silver Coin?
Should I buy the uncirculated version from the mint, the uncirculated version from somewhere else, or the proof version from the mint or somewhere else. Also, which (meaning proof or uncirculated) will most likely be worth more in 20 years?

Question by Ben: I need some advice on selling gold coins.?
I have a number of 2008 1 0z. American Gold Eagles that are in very good condition. But I need to know what I should ask for these coins if I sell them to a coin dealer. Is 90% of spot price a good deal?
Or should I be looking at the PCGS rating for the coin, and asking for a better deal?
Best answer:
Answer by clogher You'll have to pay to have the coins graded. Unless they're unusually good, I'd take the 90%. That's a lot more than the coins sold for in 2008!

Question by rudedog2526: how much premium should be paid on a american eagle coin above the spot price?
Best answer:
Answer by I. B. Zoxx Most coin shops charge about 10% over the spot price for a .1 troy ounce coin such as this one. You may be able to do better shopping around, though.

Question by Brandon: How much is a 1933 Gold Double Eagle Proof Coin worth?
i need money and i found these coins in my closet and i want to sell them
Best answer:
Answer by redlemon65 Well, since there were five of them in existence and all of them have been accounted for, your coin(s) (made up your mind) are if you have any are copies (fakes) and not worth the metal they are made of. I have 8 of them and each one says "Copy" on the reverse side. Lots of luck in selling them.

Question by leed613: The US Mint does not sell 2010 American Eagle coins, are the coins sold by retail sources legitimate?
The US Mint does not sell 2010 American Eagle coins, but I have seen the coins sold by commercial sources (e.g. Littleton Coins). Are these coins from the retail outlets the same coins originally sold by the mint? If yes (or maybe), how can I be sure?
Best answer:
Answer by ►BobB◄ the mint will only sell to registered coin/bullion dealers.
Littleton Coin and others buy from the Mint, and retail to the consumer.

Question by vanbadiwal: What is a one ounce proof silver bullion American Eagle worth? I have 1986 and 1987 coins.?
Best answer:
Answer by greg b Silver is at 20.10 an ounce
The Silver eagle market is around 22$ for a regular date - so thats the bear minimum.
All silver eagles are uncirculated so quality is prob not an issue for you, if they are still in their original case from the mint they are probably ms 67- to ms 69.
Both of your coins are around -40.
Hold onto them, silver will probably increase even more as the economy slumps.
